He married Mary Ann Mattis in Ordzoviany, Slovakia, 15
Sep 1890. Mary was born in Ordzoviany, Slovakia 25 Mar 1871,
the daughter of Matthew Mattis and Mary Copersta.
After Andrew's death, she married August George Egger III in Springfield, Sangamon Co, IL. She
died 4 Jul 1929 in Springfield, Sangamon Co, IL. Her body was
interred in Calvary Cemetery, Springfield, Sangamon Co, IL. Mary's
parents were names were spelled Matthew Mattis and Mary
Copersta on her death certificate. The informant was Andy
Forgas. The LDS Ordviany, Slovakia Church Records have their
names spelled Mathias Matisz and Maria Kopesdak.

"Andrew Forgas and Mary
Ann Mattis Forgas were married in Austria way before the countries
were taken over by the man Hitler. Mom was the youngest child
in their family and the only daughter, her brother was a Franciscan
Bro and he came to America also, and I remember him wearing his
habit with a white cord belt, the order let him stay at home.
"Mom and Dad came to the United States when Mom was 18 years
old. I don't remember Dad's age. They settled in Pennsylvania,
Dad went to work in the coal mines and to this union was born
6 children, Andrew II born in Penn. Stephen in Penn, Paul in
Ohio, Charles in Ohio, Mary in Dawson Ill., Annie in Springfield.
Dad passed away when I was very young. When I was about 11, Mother
married again to August George Egger to this union they had one
son August George Jr. Pop Egger would us Herbs from the garden
when we were sick.
"Mom worked with us like she was one of us, taught us right
from wrong. She was so good to us, she never had to scold us
or tell us twice to do something, my brothers did everything
they could for her. I remember my brothers Andy, Paul, Charley
working in the zinc works, they used to call it the Smelter works
out North Inn somewhere. I wold go to St. John's Hospital poor
line, with a basket and get some food to bring home. I was about
9 or 10 I also remember taking basket to the meat market on 6th
street near St Peter & Paul church and they would fill it
for $1.00. I would walk from n. 17th Street all the way to this
market and back. My sister Annie and I went to a Christmas party
given by the Salvation Army for the poor. They gave us each a
new pair of shoes and we were so happy."

He married Mary Elizabeth Koskey in Springfield, Sangamon
Co, IL, 17 Jan 1916.13 She was born in Kurima, Slovakia 27 Jun
1896, the daughter of Jan 'John' Koskey (Keckovsky)
and Anna Randar. Mary died 14 Jun 1977 in Springfield,
Sangamon Co, IL. Her body was interred in Calvary Cemetery, Springfield,
Sangamon Co, IL.
Andrew Joseph Forgas Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Koskey
