Jannet was born at Bush, a farm near Hightae, Dumfriesshire, Scotland 21 Nov 1812, the daughter of James WILSON and Jean FROOD. Jannet died 12 Apr 1886 in Riverton, Sangamon Co, IL. Click here for the complete text - Jannet was married to Thomas Richardson who was a landscape gardner. A few months after they were married he went to America. Janet remained at home for one year then went to her husband in New Haven Connecticut where he was engaged as a gardner to a Mr. Baldwin. After living there a few years he engaged with Col. Mathers to go to Springfield, Illinois and take charge of his garden and grounds. James, Jannet's father, corresponded regularly with them. Their letters from Springfield contained such flattering accounts of Sangamon County and of Illinois that John Wright felt it would be better for his family for him to sell his property and immigrate to Illinois. He consulted with James, his father-in-law, about the matter and they concluded that the Carthat, a farm, was not paying more than expenses. James would give up his lease and John would sell his property and the family would immigrate to Illinois. Thomas married Dora PEDDICORD Jones 1888. Dora was born 16 Apr 1840. Dora died 13 Feb 1901 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Sangamon Co, IL. Her body was interred in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield, Sangamon Co, IL. His body was interred in Oak Hill Cemetery, Decatur Road, Springfield, IL. He married Mary 'Alice' Ann KNOX 24 Dec 1867. Mary was born in Clear Lake Twp, Sangamon Co, IL 7 May 1842, the daughter of Thomas J. KNOX and Mary DANLEY Myers. Mary died 21 Aug 1896 in Riverton, Sangamon Co, IL. His body was interred 10 Feb 1922 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Decatur Road, Springfield, IL He married twice. He married Margaret Reid NESBITT 3 Jan 1867. Margaret was born in Decatur, Macon Co, IL 28 Feb 1840, the daughter of Samuel G. NESBITT and Mary B. TURNER. Margaret died 11 Mar 1893 in Rochester, Sangamon Co, IL. Her body was interred in Oak Hill Cemetery, Decatur Road, Springfield, IL. He married Emma SMITH. James' occupation: Farmer. During the Civil War, James was a private with the 114th Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry Company "I". He was mustered in 18 Sep 1862 and transferred to Signal Corps, 28 Mar 1864. At the time of his death, James and Emma were divorced. James and Margaret had six children.
